    Hi Shubham,
    Thanks for nice article. I used to fetch data using FQL too. But in V2.5 sharecount needs access token. Issue is access token has certain life time and it needs to extend it every time which requires web authentication.
    I was using a java code to hit FB API to get share count for public news articles so it runs periodically and fetch data but in case of access token i need to update access token when it gets expired how will it be possible without using any web part.

    Saw the problem with the access token but didn’t understand your solution. I tried it with the URL where the counter details are asked from. So I put the normal URL of the website into this part
    $data = getData("MyCodingTricks");
    like this
    $data =getData("http://mycodingtricks.com/");
    That did the trick. Do you see any problems with this solution?

    Thanks for your posting 🙂

    Hey Shubam,

    the FB Graph API does not work any more without an access_token. When requesting e.g. http://graph.facebook.com/MyCodingTricks you will receive the following response:

    {
    "error": {
    "message": "An access token is required to request this resource.",
    "type": "OAuthException",
    "code": 104
    }
    }

    I used it to fetch likes and talking_about_counts. Do you know a way to avoid the use of an access token or do you have any advice how to solve this problem?

    Best regards, Torben

  10. Can I create a site specific plugin with the above code if so how?
